What is starvation? Starvation- a state of extreme hunger resulting from lack of essential nutrients over a prolonged period.
Starvation in Rome
When the Tiber flooded, there could be a shortage of food because transportation was disrupted, crops were destroyed and stored food spoiled. New supplies weren't available so widespread famine and starvation could occurred.
Some landowners became sharecroppers. Both landowners and tenants could face starvation due to crop damage, failure or illness.
Around 100 when the planet cooled, disease, famine and lower birthrates occurred.
There were some terrible famine years during the fourth century for the whole of Greece.
Starvation happened because of bad soil, war, to many citizens, and no more resources from cities that Rome was conquering.
Most Roman citizens meals were based on these products, corn (grain), oil and wine, and, for the wealthy, different types of exotic foods.
Present day starvation
About 925 million people suffer from starvation. Every day, almost 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes. 6 million children die a year from starvation.
The worst places for starvation:
Asia and the Pacific: 578 million.
Sub-Saharan Africa: 239 million.
Latin America and the Caribbean: 53 million.
Starvation can stunt growth, slow thinking, sap energy, hinder fetal development and contribute to mental retardation.
Children who are starving usually die from common illnesses like diarrhea, malaria and measles.
About 1/6 Americans struggle with starvation
Present day solutions
New food technologies and improvements in the political climate can help end mass starvation and famine.
1 way would be to develop new ways to grow food on a worldwide scale. There are places with substandard land for growing food. New methods for maximizing crop growth could help food grow to meet their needs.
Another way is to improve food distribution. First world countries have a large amount of staple crops and grains. (wheat, rice, corn) Poorer countries who could use these goods are usually controlled by hostile governments. They either refuse the offers of food or hold the food hostage.
If the people of poorer countries could be encouraged to move closer to sustainable sources of food, that would solve world hunger.
Also if farmers in poorer countries could be trained to rotate their crops to keep the soil healthier season after season, that would help.
Finally, if better seeds that resisted insects or produced higher amounts of a certain crop were used, it would help farmers grow more usable crops.
What is sustainable farming and sustainable food?

How many different types of sustainable foods that you can grow or fish are there? (about how many)
When did sustainable food, farming, and fishing start?
How many main food groups can be sustainable food?
Thank you for your time.

The farmers could have taken manure from the animals or dead fish and combined it with the soil.
The Romans could of won wars quicker to make sure the land and waterways would not be harmed as much as they would when the Romans fought longer.
The Romans should have not sent their farmers to war because if they died, they would not get to provide food to Rome.
